On-Call Schedule Shift Automation

// CASE RECORD

In adoptionWorkflow automationMeasure: manual coordination hours removed per cycle

The problem

On-call rotations were being shifted by hand — a recurring, every-cycle chore that ate coordination time, invited scheduling mistakes, and occasionally left coverage gaps. The signal is the classic one: “our team is doing this manually every week.”

What I built

A focused automation that drives the on-call schedule shift directly through the team’s observability tooling — the manual step removed, the rotation rules encoded once, the result auditable. No grand platform; the smallest change that removes a standing source of friction.

Where it stands

In adoption: shifts that used to require manual coordination now happen automatically and correctly. The measures: manual coordination hours removed per cycle, schedule errors and coverage gaps avoided, and time-to-correct when a one-off change is needed. This is the kind of small win that compounds — the first of several fragmented manual processes that can be standardized behind governed, automated flows.
